Cuisine education through media will help people to know each other well
Education about cuisine through the media will help people of different nations to know much more about each other. Lawrence Lo, an critic, stated about it today, during panel discussion “italyan lifestyle as seen from China” in Perugia, where Inernational Journalism Festival 2012 was opened on 25 of April.
Enogastranomy Participants of this panel were discussing the Italyan lifestyle, particularly food and wine and the role it has in Italian culture, as seen from the perspective of the Chinese media.
As Lawrence Lo mentioned, there are some styrotypes about Chinese cuisine in some european media reports and in-depth reporting of Italian cuisine in some Chinese media. He represent 8 great styles and cooking essentials of chinese cuisine.
“I notice, that media does not show different situation in Chinese and Italian markets before the New Year and it is the shame for those media. Besides, there should be more reports about using this or that kind of products, for example olive oil, in Chinese cuisine. Education through the media will help people to know how to use this products in Chinese cooking” ,- said enogastronomy critic.
He especially put an accent on cross-cultural understanding through cuisine.
Hu Lanbo, publisher China in Italy, talked about necessity of using potential of second generation Chinese people, living in Italy. In her opinion, second generation of Chinese immigrants can path the way to import Italian products to China. “We don’t know much about these Chinese people. We should improve our relations with them to stimulate better understanding and trade between these two countries”,- she said.
