Heather Brooke. Civic understanding idea is lost in journalism

Good journalist should always make government feel uncomfortable. Heather Brooke, an activist and journalist, said today during International Journalism Festival panel discussion “The new civic journalism” in Perugia.

“Information is a component of power. That’s why it is so important to have free acces to information”, – said Brooke, author of three books.

In her point of view, idea of civic understanding is lost in journalism and this is a great problem.

“Journalism is a public porpuse, and it is not only for entertainment. I feel that some medias lost connection with their audience and it’s a problem, We should understand how to make it work”, – she told.
